Apple Phases Out M2 and M3 MacBook Air Models

It appears that Apple has phased out the M2 and M3 versions of the MacBook Air with the launch of the new M4 model.

The previous pricing for the M2 MacBook Air was $999, while the M3 MacBook Air retailed at $1099. The latest M4 MacBook Air introduces a $100 price cut, taking over from both the M2 and M3, and starting at $999 (or $899 for educational customers).

Additionally, Apple has also lowered the pricing on the 15-inch MacBook Air variant. The new M4 model begins at $1199, down from the previous $1299. A few years back, the least expensive Mac laptop larger than 14 inches was priced at a minimum of $2500.

Looking for a more affordable Mac laptop? Walmart is still offering the M1 MacBook Air for $629 (regularly $699).

Other retailers may continue to sell their existing inventory of M2 and M3 MacBook Air models. However, with the M4 MacBook Air’s lower starting price, older MacBook Air versions will need to drop even further in price to remain an attractive option.
