Apple frequently refreshes the App Store’s interface to enhance navigation and highlight different content areas. Recently implemented changes are particularly noticeable and simplify the process of discovering new apps on the iPhone and beyond.
Categories now prominently featured across three App Store discovery tabs
Apple has recently updated three tabs in its App Store:
Each of the three now includes clearly visible app category buttons positioned at or near the top of the page.
While category buttons are not a new addition, they previously appeared much lower on the page.
Now, these categories are among the first elements you will notice in the Apps and Games tabs.
For Arcade, they are located just below the prominent game carousel at the top.
App categories are among the most effective means of discovering new applications since the App Store provides a broad selection of categories to choose from.
It remains uncertain how these categories are currently organized, but they might be customized based on each device’s download or search history.
For instance, my iPhone’s Apps tab features Productivity, Utilities, and Entertainment as the top three categories, which aligns closely with my app usage patterns. My iPad, however, displays different options, as do my wife’s devices.
Regardless, the next time you seek a new app in a specific category, the search will be straightforward.
