Apple has refreshed nearly its entire iPad lineup this year, with the exception of the base model, which has not seen an update since 2022. However, it appears the tech giant is finally preparing an updated entry-level iPad, as a source claims that the iPad 11 is set to debut in early 2025.
iPad 11 anticipated for release in the coming months
An anonymous user on X, known for reliable leaks, announced on Monday that Apple intends to release the iPad 11 early next year, coinciding with the public rollout of iPadOS 18.3. According to the insider, the new device will be launched with the software already installed.
The first beta of iPadOS 18.3 was made available to developers last week, introducing no significant new features aside from preparation for robot vacuum support within the Home app. It’s plausible that Apple has also been working to incorporate support for the upcoming iPad 11 under the hood in iPadOS 18.3.
Typically, iOS and iPadOS “.3” updates are launched in late January. Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicated that Apple aims to unveil the iPad 11 during the spring of 2025, which begins in March. This gives us a clearer timeframe for anticipating the launch of the new entry-level iPad.
The leaker further confirmed prior reports suggesting that the iPad 11 will feature Apple’s first wireless modem to facilitate both Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity.
Interestingly, it was also mentioned that Apple had been developing an iPad powered by the same A14 chip as the existing iPad 10—a claim that DMN has also received from separate sources. The leaker now states that this model was merely a prototype for testing the new modem. The final version is expected to be equipped with a faster chip, potentially the A17 Pro found in the iPad mini, enabling functionality with Apple Intelligence.
Currently, the iPad 10 is available for $349, though prices can dip to as low as $279 on Amazon. Given these developments, we suggest waiting for the release of the new iPad 11.
There are also rumors of Apple unveiling a new iPhone SE and a refreshed iPad Air in the spring of 2025, so anticipate their announcement during a special event or series of promotional videos.
