Apple Set to Unveil Complete Redesign of MacBook Pro in 2026

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has indicated that a complete redesign of the MacBook Pro is expected in 2026. Historically, Apple has followed a four-year design cycle for this product line, but it seems that the upcoming M5 refresh will merely be a chip upgrade, requiring an additional year for a full redesign.

In his Power On newsletter this weekend, Gurman noted that “the MacBook Pro probably won’t see another genuine overhaul until 2026.” He mentioned that Apple had initially aimed for a 2025 redesign, but delays with the display technology have pushed that timeline back.

The next significant update for the MacBook Pro is anticipated to feature an OLED display, akin to what is seen in the new M4 iPad Pros.

This forthcoming MacBook Pro is also expected to have a “slimmer profile.” After making the MacBook Pros slightly thicker during the shift to Apple Silicon, Apple will now reportedly be reverting to a thinner design. Hopefully, this change won’t lead to any significant drawbacks.

Gurman also highlighted that the M6 chip is likely to utilize the new 2nm process, introducing advanced display technology, a refreshed design, and enhanced performance all at once.

Regarding the 2025 MacBook Pro models, anticipate upgrades to the M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chips, though beyond these improvements, no significant changes are expected.
