Apple Subtly Refreshes HomePod Mini with Updated Packaging

There are rumors that Apple is preparing to unveil a new generation of the HomePod mini later this year. However, rather than waiting, the company has discreetly refreshed the current HomePod mini, albeit with updates limited to its packaging rather than hardware enhancements.

HomePod mini now features an all-new white box

Parker Ortolani has pointed out that the HomePod mini is now being shipped in redesigned packaging. The previous box featured side and top illustrations of the HomePod, while the new design showcases the Apple logo on top and a stylized HomePod mini logo on the opposite side. There’s another noteworthy adjustment as well.

The updated packaging is completely white, in contrast to the earlier colored boxes that matched the HomePod mini’s colors. Initially launched in space gray and white, each original color had a uniquely colored box. In 2021, Apple introduced additional colors—blue, yellow, and orange—each accompanied by their respective tinted packaging.

Now, the HomePod mini’s packaging aligns with that of the HomePod 2, which also features a white box, regardless of the product’s color selection. The reason behind this packaging change remains unclear, especially with a new HomePod mini model on the horizon later this year.

Interestingly, this is not the first packaging alteration for the current generation of the HomePod mini. Last July, Apple swapped the space gray variation for a new midnight version. Although the colors appear nearly identical, the Midnight variant has a subtle bluish hue.

In the United States, the HomePod mini retails for $99, while the larger HomePod 2 is priced at $299.
