Apple to Revamp M5 MacBook Pro This Year, with Major Overhaul Expected in 2026

Reports indicate that Apple is in the process of launching a refreshed M5 MacBook Pro, anticipated to arrive ‘later this year.’ Although this update will largely consist of a minor chip enhancement, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reiterates a more substantial redesign for the MacBook Pro set for 2026.

Gurman describes the upcoming M5 MacBook Pro refresh as “certain,” predicting that it will likely occur “around the same timeframe when the M4 processor was introduced in 2024 and the M3 in 2023.”

For those keeping track, that points to October. Additionally, Apple is also preparing a refresh for the M5 MacBook Air, continuing the trend.

Although neither of these updates is expected to bring new designs, Gurman once again highlights that a significant ‘overhaul’ for the MacBook Pro is coming in 2026. This future refresh will feature an M6 chip, OLED display, and a slimmer profile, based on prior reports:

In terms of major new Mac designs, I don’t expect the MacBook Pro to get an overhaul until around 2026 — when the M6 model is due to come out.

If you can’t wait another six months to acquire a new MacBook Pro with an M5 chip, consider checking out excellent deals on current MacBook Pro models, including the M4 14-inch model starting at only $1399, and the M4 Pro 14-inch model beginning at $1779. Both options offer savings of over $200 from regular prices.
