For instance, consider a novice smart home user who purchases a bulb and switch from Ikea. These users often find that they cannot implement automations. Consequently, Thread on mobile enables that evolution into a full border router.
Additionally, a crucial aspect is the capability to operate your devices, particularly vital ones like a front door lock, during power outages. If your Wi-Fi router or Thread border router is inoperative, yet you still wish to access your home or perform other smart home functions, those use cases are precisely what Thread is crafted for, although it is not limited solely to that.
Siddha is particularly well-qualified to discuss this topic, holding a key position at Apple while also serving as President of the Thread Group.
In summary, while Thread radios possess significant potential for further applications, Siddha highlighted two primary benefits for their inclusion in the iPhone:
