Vimeo has recently rolled out its visionOS application, which was showcased by Apple during WWDC 2024. To celebrate the integration of Vimeo with the Apple Vision Pro, filmmaker Jake Oleson has released a short film titled ‘currents’. If you own an Apple Vision Pro, be sure to check out this immersive short film.
What I found most captivating? The cinematographic style that gives the impression of still photographs coming to life. ‘currents’ is also quite accessible, featuring delightful music and a meaningful narrative. Make sure to watch it on Vision Pro if you get the chance.
Alongside the short film, there’s an intriguing director interview blog post available on Vimeo that dives deeper into the filmmaking process:
To inaugurate the launch of Vimeo’s new app for Apple Vision Pro, we commissioned him to create an original short film that was entirely shot in spatial format. Equipped with a single Canon camera featuring a dual fisheye lens, Jake and his crew traveled to Vietnam to produce “currents,” the narrative of a young Vietnamese woman named Lynn as she journeys to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time.
In the meantime, there’s a wealth of outstanding spatial and 3D content that Apple Vision Pro users should queue up for viewing.
