A closer look at the lineup:

  • Enterprise 7: Delivers coverage up to 2,000 ft² with 10-stream Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, supporting over 1,000 devices in high-demand networks.
  • Enterprise 7 Campus: Built tough with an IP67 rating and PRISM™ RF filtering for use in interference-heavy settings, ideal for campuses and outdoor applications.
  • Enterprise 7 Audience: Targeted at high-density venues like sports stadiums, it boasts 12 spatial streams, adjustable beam widths, and IP68 durability for connecting up to 1,500 devices. A key consideration is that water can attenuate RF signals, as the human body is largely composed of water.

Key features:

  • 6 GHz Extended Range Mode: Enhances performance over vast areas while ensuring reliability.
  • 10 GbE PoE++ Uplink: Ensures high-speed connectivity and redundancy with an additional GbE port.
  • Spectral Scanning and RF Filtering: Minimizes interference for improved network performance.

These devices are designed for seamless integration in businesses that require high reliability and strong performance.

What about Apple?

The iPhone 16 series from Apple is equipped to support Wi-Fi 7, allowing users to experience enhanced speeds and decreased latency. However, the latest Macs with M4 chips, including the MacBook Pro and iMac, are still utilizing Wi-Fi 6E. It’s worth noting that while the iPhone 16 supports a maximum channel bandwidth of 160MHz, Wi-Fi 7 has the potential for 320MHz. This distinction underscores that Wi-Fi 7 is still in its nascent phase, with infrastructure and practical benefits still emerging.

DMN’s Take

While Wi-Fi 7 is at an early stage, it is poised to mark a significant advancement in wireless technology. Ubiquiti’s new range of enterprise access points is perfect for settings that demand high reliability and performance, such as stadiums and expansive campuses. On the Apple front, it’s notable to see Wi-Fi 7 implemented in the iPhone 16 already, though its absence on Macs is intriguing. The gradual rollout for Macs may indicate Apple’s caution, waiting for broader adoption and more concrete benefits for desktop users. As Wi-Fi 7 routers become commonplace, we can expect its relevance to grow within Apple’s product lineup, but I personally would have preferred to see it included in Macs this year.

The E7 is now available, with the other models anticipated to launch soon. You can purchase them from the Ubiquiti store.
