Apple TV+ is reshaping its film approach, moving away from traditional theatrical releases and extravagant budgets. However, there’s at least one highly-anticipated movie that the company is pushing: this summer’s Brad Pitt-starring Formula 1 film. Here’s the adrenaline-fueled teaser that premiered during the Super Bowl.

F1 Movie Represents Apple’s Most Ambitious Theatrical Venture to Date

Despite the increasing success of Apple TV+ with its television offerings, 2024 wasn’t particularly favorable for Apple’s film sector.

Both Argylle and Fly Me to the Moon enjoyed wide theatrical releases, yet they were significant letdowns at the box office.

This outcome led Apple to cancel the planned theatrical debut for Wolfs, opting instead for an Apple TV+ release—which left the creative team disheartened. Nevertheless, the film reportedly found success on the streaming platform.

Insider reports suggest that Apple has decided to emulate Netflix’s model, focusing more on direct-to-streaming films. This strategy will likely see Apple commit to producing only one or two major theatrical projects each year.

This year, F1 is that major project. It marks Apple’s inaugural effort to produce a true summer blockbuster.

Featuring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick, the film will see a considerable theatrical release on June 27.

Thus, it was only fitting for Apple to unveil a sneak preview during the Super Bowl. Here’s the newly released teaser trailer.

After its summer theatrical release, Apple plans to bring F1 to Apple TV+, likely during the fall or around the holiday season.
