Zynga, the game developer from San Francisco- best known for FarmVille, has recently announced its plans of releasing its first NFT game for the year. The billion-dollar gaming studio sent multiple waves crashing in the crypto world the previous year after they went on to appoint a 30-year-old veteran of the gaming industry- Matt Wolf as Vice President of Blockchain Gaming- who would lead the company in its attempt to embrace the new immersive technology that was coming at them.
Zynga To Release NFT Based Game
Zynga has also developed plans of increasing the current blockchain gaming team from 15 employees to anywhere up to 100 by the end of the year. The company could also fall under the umbrella of video-game colossus Take-Two Interactive, with the publisher of Grand Theft Auto publicly stating a $12.7 billion acquisition move which would be completed in the first quarter of 2023 itself.
Speaking about Zynga’s NFT based plans for gaming with Axios, Wolf has stated that the soon-to-come blockchain-based games will have brand new titles- for it doesn’t make any sense to start pushing NFTs into games that already exist. He further stated that players should technically expect the new games to look a bit like Mafia Wars- a now-discontinued social media game where players used to assume the role of gangsters and worked their way up the crime family.
One can see Zynga taking quite a few aggressive steps in the field of blockchain gaming more than any other traditional gaming company. One of the major reasons for this has been hesitancy from gaming studios as cryptocurrency-related features have usually resulted in a backlash from most of their angry gamers.
