According to officials from the Better Business Bureau, scammers are impersonating the IRS in text messages that falsely claim recipients are eligible for a $1,400 stimulus check. These messages often contain a link to click on.
The criminals behind this scheme are simply trying to deceive you into revealing your personal information.
The IRS has stated that they do not send out such messages and advises individuals to refrain from sharing personal details like bank information or identification.
