As the 15th anniversary of Brittany Murphy’s tragic death nears, her mother, Sharon Murphy, has shared an emotional recollection of her daughter’s final words. The actress, best known for her roles in Clueless, 8 Mile, and Uptown Girls, passed away on December 20, 2009, at just 32 years old, leaving the world in shock.

A Heartbreaking Goodbye

On that fateful morning, Brittany Murphy, who had been experiencing flu-like symptoms and abdominal pain, woke up struggling to breathe. At around 7:30 AM, she went to the bathroom but collapsed on the floor, unconscious. Her mother found her half an hour later and called for help. Despite efforts by firefighters to resuscitate her, Murphy was declared dead shortly after arriving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

A coroner later ruled that Murphy’s death was accidental, caused by pneumonia, anemia, and drug intoxication, though no illegal substances were involved. The investigation revealed that she had been battling health issues after contracting a bug during a trip to Puerto Rico, which left her weakened and vulnerable to serious infection.

In a deeply emotional interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sharon Murphy recalled her daughter’s final moments. “I said, ‘Baby, get up,’” she remembered. Brittany’s last words were heart-wrenching: “Mommy, I can’t catch my breath. Help me. Help me.” Brittany’s husband, Simon Monjack, also shared that she told her mother, “I’m dying. I’m going to die. Mommy, I love you.” Tragically, Simon Monjack passed away just months later, with a similar cause of death.

The actress’ untimely passing remains a haunting reminder of the fragility of life, and the deep pain felt by those who loved her. As the anniversary approaches, her memory continues to resonate with fans and family alike.
