On the carpet of the 2023 Met Gala, the model/actor paid tribute to Karl with everything from her blue hair with a silvery undertone to her white iconic shirt. Cara Delevingne, who was Lagerfeld’s close friend and muse, had a tearful evening as the event’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” theme honored the late fashion designer.

The fashion icon said to interviewers from Vogue on the red carpet that she sobbed a bit on her way to the event. Adding that it was a wonderful way to recall the legend and her outfit as well as the accessories for the occasion, simply felt right.
According to a story in The Independent, Lagerfeld allegedly possessed almost 1,000 high-collared-sleeved shirts, indicating that they were a personal fave of the fashion icon.
Cara Delevingne wrote on Instagram after the creative director of Chanel passed away in 2019 that he had transformed her life and that he had faith in her when several others did not. The post also said that he was a genius, a visionary, and more than anything, a good friend. Cara Delevingne has been on numerous Chanel catwalks; one month after Lagerfeld’s passing, she even opened the presentation of his final creations for the brand. She collaborated with Lagerfeld’s namesake clothing line to produce the Cara Loves Karl capsule collection in 2022 as an honor to their romance.
She posted a collage of old videos of herself with Karl and several from the catwalk of Chanel before the big event. Although Cara Delevingne regularly attends the Met Gala and was spotted there last year nude and covered in gold paint, this is her first ever appearance there since last year, when she sought treatment for her substance abuse problems.
