The films are based on Tatum’s time spent as a male stripper in Florida when he was a teenager. In Magic Mike’s Last Dance, the epidemic causes Mike’s furniture company to fail. Mike, now working as a bartender for a catering company, reminisces about his stripper days when he runs across Kim (Caitlin Gerard), a lawyer, at a charity event. Tatum can be seen flexing his biceps on the Magic Mike stage in nothing but a tight pair of black tights and knee protection.
He also uploaded a video of himself practicing, in which he hangs from a pole, does a trick off of a park seat, and then swims across a water puddle on a slick stage. On Friday, Salma Hayek Pinault, who co-stars alongside Channing, talked to PEOPLE about the movie’s opening lap dance. The actress portrays Maxandra Mendoza, a rich socialite who has a hot private dance with Tatum’s “Magic” Mike Lane. This personal connection restores Mendoza’s “groove” and sets the stage for the rest of the story.
