If someone hasn’t yet received their third stimulus check payment or has received a partial amount and is entitled to more, the IRS will be offering them another chance- but time seems to be running out.
Back in January, the IRS had claimed that all the stimulus payments had already been issued. But some of the taxpayers could still claim the payment on their tax return of 2021. The deadline to file for the taxes of 2021 was set for the 18th of April. Close to 175 million third stimulus payments- which had a total of $400 billion, were distributed starting in March 2021- which also formed a major part of the American Rescue Plan Act.
How To Receive Stimulus Check Payments?
To claim the stimulus check payment, one would have to first request any of the missing third stimulus payments on their tax return 2021 by claiming the Recovery Rebate Tax Credit. This is also going to be the case if one has received a partial amount- or didn’t previously qualify for the third stimulus payment. If one is single and their income for the tax years of 2020 and 2019 exceeded the threshold, but they lost their jobs in 2021. In this situation, one would be able to claim their Recovery Rebate Tax Credit since the earnings did fall below the threshold.
To receive the stimulus check payment, one would have to complete the Recovery Rebate Tax Credit worksheet and then submit it along with the tax return 2021. If one uses a tax software program, it should ideally guide one through the process. One also has to keep in mind that the IRS did predict quite a slow and frustrating tax season this year- so one needs to file their return as soon as possible.
