Acquiring Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has become simpler, as Coinbase launches a new feature today that allows users to buy crypto via Apple Pay across various third-party applications. Here are the specifics.
Coinbase Onramp Introduces Apple Pay Support for All Eligible Purchases
Coinbase Onramp is a platform for developers to manage crypto transactions, and with today’s update, all applications utilizing Onramp will automatically gain Apple Pay support.
Similar to its functionality for various online purchases over the years, Apple Pay significantly accelerates the transaction process for new users.

This new capability arrives years after Tim Cook noted that Apple was ‘exploring’ the acceptance of cryptocurrency through Apple Pay (he also revealed that crypto is part of his personal investment portfolio).
However, since that statement, there hasn’t been significant progress on Apple’s cryptocurrency initiatives. It seems likely that the company played some role in the Coinbase Onramp launch, although it’s also possible that Coinbase developed the integration independently.
