Apple Alerts Apple Pay and Wallet Users About Updates to Terms of Use

Recently, Apple has begun notifying its users about updates to its terms and conditions for Apple Pay and Wallet. Interestingly, these changes actually took effect nearly three months ago in September. Here’s what you need to be aware of.

Apple Pay notices about terms are sent months after the changes

Below is an excerpt from the email being sent to users regarding the updated Apple Pay & Wallet terms:

We’ve implemented several updates to the Apple Pay & Wallet Terms & Conditions. Here’s a brief overview of the key modifications:

  • We have streamlined our Terms and Conditions for Apple Pay and Wallet to ensure that reviewing and agreeing to these Terms applies across all your Apple devices.
  • For our US customers, Apple Pay is a service offered by Apple Payments Services LLC, a subsidiary of Apple Inc.
  • Our Terms and Conditions now encompass standard assignment provisions.

The complete updated terms and conditions are accessible here for your review, with a privacy notice attached to the email as well.

The privacy notice is dated September 2024, and if you check Apple’s website for the revised terms, you’ll see that they were last updated on September 16, 2024.

While the changes in the terms don’t appear particularly momentous, it is curious that the revisions came into effect nearly three months prior to Apple’s announcement.
