Report: Apple Developing New Magic Mouse with Improved Charging Port Design

In the latest edition of Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, it has been revealed that Apple is developing a completely reimagined Magic Mouse, addressing significant concerns with the current model.

Recently, Apple gave the Magic Mouse a minor update by adding a USB-C port, suggesting that the new iteration might take some time before its release. According to Gurman, the goal is to create a device that is more aligned with contemporary needs.

Users have frequently pointed out issues with the Magic Mouse’s ergonomics, which can lead to discomfort during extended use. Moreover, its design lacks a front-facing charge port, forcing users to turn the mouse over to charge it.

This design flaw means that the mouse cannot be used while it is charging. However, Apple may be nearing a resolution for this issue. As reported by Bloomberg, Apple is “seeking to develop something that is more relevant, while also addressing persistent complaints.”

In terms of availability, this new product is expected to be launched in the next 12-18 months, potentially arriving in 2026, possibly around the same time as the newly redesigned MacBook Pros with OLED displays.
