Fandango, the ticketing company, has consented to this substantial payout to settle allegations that it did not fully disclose the fees associated with movie tickets.

This payout will be available to anyone who paid a “convenience” fee when purchasing electronic tickets for any movie in any theater in New York state via Fandango.

Purchases could have been made through the company’s website, mobile app, or other online platforms.

Notably, the tickets must have been bought between August 29, 2022, and March 11, 2024.

The class action lawsuit alleges Fandango contravened New York’s Arts and Cultural Affairs law.

The plaintiffs argue they were misled due to the ticket broker’s failure to adequately disclose fees, leading them to pay more than anticipated.

Fandango has not conceded any wrongdoing regarding the alleged violation; instead, it chose to settle with a lump sum payout.

According to the agreement, class members with an eligible claim can opt to receive either a $5 cash payment or a $10 voucher for Fandango at Home.

These vouchers can be redeemed to rent or purchase movies and TV shows from the company’s platform.

The deadline to either opt out or contest the case is January 28.

The final approval hearing is slated for February 27.

The key date for individuals looking to make a claim is March 31, which is the deadline for submitting forms.

In addition, Americans can also take advantage of a £2.67 billion settlement being distributed by Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The health insurance organization has agreed to disburse $333 to approximately six million Americans.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is a collective of independent health insurance companies across the US.

Currently, the association is facing legal scrutiny over allegations of anti-competitive practices.

Moreover, several individuals are eligible for a share of a multi-million dollar payout stemming from a data breach.

This follows a class action lawsuit against a Maine-based accounting and consulting firm that allegedly failed to protect personal data from cyberattacks.

Berry, Dunn, McNeil & Parker, along with Reliable Networks, an IT service provider associated with Berry Dunn, are accused of inadequately safeguarding client information during a data breach occurring around September 14, 2023.

In resolving this dispute with a $7.25 million payout, the companies have not acknowledged any wrongdoing.
