Apple announced today that it plans to merge its Apple Music catalog with several widely-used tools, enabling DJs to craft mixes using Apple’s expansive library. Starting today, users will discover a new DJ with Apple Music page.
These updates will empower Apple Music subscribers to curate their own sets utilizing the Apple Music catalog. This feature will be supported by various leading DJ software and hardware platforms, such as AlphaTheta, Serato, Engine DJ, Denon DJ, Numark, RANE DJ, and Algoriddim’s djay Pro software.
Stephen Campbell, Global Head of Dance, Electronic & DJ Mixes at Apple Music, commented:
Apple Music is dedicated to catering to the needs of DJs. With this latest integration, we’re furthering that dedication—efficiently linking Apple Music with top DJ software and hardware. This innovation harnesses the full potential of Apple Music within the creative process, facilitating real-time access, play, and discovery of music for DJs.
A new DJ with Apple Music category page will also launch within the Apple Music app today, featuring an array of editorial playlists designed for DJs, along with unique curator pages for each DJ software and hardware platform, showcasing mixes and sample playlists for practice.
Algoriddim CEO Karim Morsy remarked that this Apple Music integration “unlocks a realm of creative possibilities for both novice and expert DJs.”
This enhancement builds on the achievements of the Apple Music DJ Mixes initiative launched in September 2021, which positioned Apple Music as the leading destination for premium DJ mixes according to Apple.
