The CEO of AMC Entertainment, Adam Aron, has been mulling over the option of adding Dogecoin as a mode of payment at the movie chain. This led to the launch of a poll on Twitter by the CEO with the motive to gauge the interest of the many followers to pay for the snacks and the tickets with popular meme cryptocurrency DOGE.
Currently, the survey of Aron has received around 75,000 votes across four different options. Interestingly, Aron doesn’t just want to know what his followers believe in, but also the possibility of them using the cryptocurrency to pay for their tickets at the theater. While the votes are still making their way in, around 75% of his followers think it would be a good idea.
Dogecoin Community Influence
This interesting turn of events came into play after the entertainment company became somewhat of a target on social platforms since it had excluded Dogecoin from its list of supported cryptocurrencies.
In its place, Aron had opted for Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and Ethereum. The fans of DOGE were really quick to express their disappointment with the meme cryptocurrency not being included in the operations. In their defense, this cryptocurrency did manage to turn into one of the most high-profile cryptocurrencies of all time after it gained the endorsement of Elon Musk.
Although it remains to be seen if Crypto Twitter has enough pull to convince Aron to introduce Dogecoin as an acceptable mode of currency, the poll is definitely receiving some bonus points. In fact, even Elon Musk, the patron of quite a few cryptocurrencies has liked the tweet proclaiming the poll.
In a way, this does seem fated, considering Dogecoin and AMC have both reached meme-status in their respective fields- especially after AMC was featured as a favorite on a WallStreetBets subreddit.
