Drake Alleges Apple Was Compensated to “Deliberately Mislead” Siri Responses Toward Kendrick Lamar’s Track

The ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar shows no signs of resolution, and now Apple finds itself inadvertently caught up in this complex situation due to a purported Siri glitch and Apple Music.

Apple caught up in contentious artist rivalry

As reported by Billboard, Drake is pursuing legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify.

The musician alleges that the two entities conspired to elevate Kendrick Lamar’s track ‘Not Like Us,’ which includes a significant accusation against Drake.

However, UMG and Spotify aren’t the only ones facing Drake’s accusations. In a recent court filing in Manhattan, the artist suggests that Apple is also involved.

From the legal document:

On information and belief, UMG paid or authorized payments to Apple Inc. to have its voice-activated digital assistant “Siri” deliberately redirect users to “Not Like Us.” Reports indicate that when users instructed Siri to play the album “Certified Loverboy” by recording artist Aubrey Drake Graham d/b/a Drake, Siri instead played “Not Like Us,” which contains the lyrics “certified pedophile,” an accusation aimed at Drake.

While technically not accused of any legal wrongdoing, as the primary target is Universal Music Group, Apple is certainly caught in a peculiar situation.

This claim is undeniably strange and could potentially be dismissed as an exaggeration or a misstep on Siri’s part, considering its sometimes questionable performance.

Could Siri have mistakenly played Lamar’s song on occasion? Absolutely. I’ve encountered many unusual errors from Siri myself.

However, the notion that Apple might have received a bribe to promote a rival’s hit song through Siri and Apple Music is an odd allegation. It seems to lack substantial credibility, not only because of its implausibility but also because the legal action isn’t aimed directly at the company.
