iPhone 12 and 12 Pro pre-order sale has nearly matched the entire iPhone 11 series launch sale. At this rate, the two models from the 2020 line-up will beat the iPhone 11 sale records in 2019.

The iPhone 12 and its 2020 line-up were announced by Apple in a launch event on October 14. The much-awaited event announced the four 2020 iPhone 12 models, namely the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, Pro Max and iPhone 12 Mini. Apple fans also witnessed the launch of MagSafe wireless charging tech and the Apple HomePod on the launch event as well.

The 5G iPhone 12 with A 14 Bionic chip and an OLED display was an Apple breakthrough that fans have been waiting for all the year round. After the launch on October 14, Apple commenced the pre-order of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models from October 16. Ming-Chi Kuo, TF Securities analyst, estimated that Apple has notched the sale of 7 to 9 million iPhone 12 or Pro models during the weekend pre-order launch. These numbers are only going to rise from here and he assumes that the sale of only two of the 2020 iPhone 12 devices will beat the entire sale of Apple’s previous line-up from 2019.

The pro-order sales for Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Mini will begin from November. Analyst Kuo mentions that the pre-order sale of the higher-end pro Max and Mini models might not be as high as the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models, but combined, these figures will be way more than the initial launch sale of the iPhone 11 series.

Apple Gets More Pre-Order Sale In 2020; Know Why

On Monday, Kuo mentioned in a note to multiple investors that the performance of the 2020 models have already nearly matched up to that of the 2019 models. The estimated sale of the Apple iPhone 11 series of 2019 was between 10 to 12 million during the 2019 launch weekend. The sale of the new models hit 1.7 to 2 million sales within 24 hours of the pre-order sale going live. The 24-hour margin of previous year was only 500,000 – 800,000 units last year.

Kuo elaborates on this extraordinary sale by stating several reasons. In a statement he mentions that the iPhone 12 series beat the sales record because of Apple fans typically preferring high-end models. With multiple new techs included in the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models, the craze around it seems justifiable. There is also an additional demand in the Chinese market and the launch coincided with the US and Europe peak season demand.
