Elon Musk’s social media platform, Twitter, has temporarily limited the number of posts that verified and unverified accounts would see- with it being set at 10,000 tweets for verified accounts and 1000 posts for unverified accounts.
This step was taken because the Twitter public had been reporting issues on the platform for the last few days- wherein they mentioned their inability to see tweets, missing timeliness, as well as being met with a rate limit exceeded message – which led to the many hashtags on the platform like #TwitterDown and #TwitterFail.
Downdetector, a real-time outage monitor website, also saw thousands of users submitting reports where they claimed that Twitter outages had lasted over the last 24 hours. Is The Service Down, a website that focuses on media outages, mentioned that the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the two coasts of the USA had been seeing the most outage.
Elon Musk Has Imposed Rate Limits On The Social Media Platform
Interestingly, Elon Musk never mentioned what was responsible for scraping Twitter’s data, whilst elaborating on the root cause behind the system manipulation claim- but stated that the data was being pillaged so much it was being a spot of bother for the users. Some have also suggested that the extreme data scraping has been the result of web-browsing-enabled artificial intelligence chatbots.
According to the developer documents under Twitter, rate limits are usually imposed to manage the volume of requests that are made to the application program interface of the social media platform. In other news, Elon Musk is also planning on participating in a cage fight against Mark Zuckerberg- fellow billionaire and META CEO.
