Elon Musk Responds to Inquiries About DOGE Stimulus Checks: Here’s His Take

During a rally in Wisconsin on Sunday, Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Governmental Efficiency, avoided questions about a potential DOGE stimulus check.

The billionaire and Tesla CEO admitted that any stimulus arising from DOGE’s uncertain savings would need to pass through a congressional vote.

“It’s somewhat up to Congress and possibly the president to determine whether specific checks are issued,” Musk stated.

Musk indicated that Americans would notice the effects of the extensive cuts his team is implementing as a form of relief from inflation.

“As government expenditures become more efficient and spending is curtailed, the tax burden from inflation is diminished,” Musk remarked.

On Friday, the February core Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index, one of the Federal Reserve’s indicators of inflation, exceeded expectations.

What sparked the idea of a DOGE stimulus?

President Donald Trump mentioned he was mulling over a suggestion made by a CEO of an investment firm to issue stimulus checks to Americans in DOGE back in February.

“We’re contemplating distributing 20% of the DOGE savings to American citizens and another 20% toward reducing the debt,” Trump said, while speaking during the Saudi-sponsored FII PRIORITY Summit in Miami Beach.

This statement coincided with a report from USA TODAY revealing that DOGE’s website had disseminated misleading information regarding its claimed savings, which included an almost $8 billion miscalculation.

Stimulus payments derived from DOGE’s savings were first proposed by James Fishback, the CEO of Azoria investment firm, who advocated on X for Musk to issue such checks based on the claimed savings. Others on social media platforms and TikTok echoed this sentiment, with claims that taxpayers could potentially receive as much as $8,000, although those claims lacked solid factual support.

Musk responded to Fishback’s comment, saying, “Will check with the President.”
