Facebook is announcing the next step in the integration plan of messenger by taking the next step of the new functionality that makes user able to message cross both Messenger and Instagram Direct in several ways.
According to Facebook:
“We’re connecting the Messenger and Instagram experience to bring some of the best Messenger features to Instagram – so you have access to the best messaging experience, no matter which app you use.”
As stated, Facebook’s comprehensive aim is to have all its messaging platforms connected. So, users can send each other through any of the applications without the need of downloading them all. That will make Facebook the leader of all messaging applications globally. Also, it will open chances for eCommerce, marketing, and so on, all in this huge cross-platform network.
However, this integration is just a step, now, your Instagram messages will stay only on Instagram.
“”The main change is that people using the Messenger app can now reach you on Instagram without you needing to download a new app, and vice versa. You can also control where you receive messages and calls, such as in your chats, in your message requests, or not at all.”
Therefore, you can cross message from Instagram and Messenger, and you can see your Messenger conversations on Instagram Direct. However, your current Instagram messages and call information will remain on Instagram.
Also, the new announcement didn’t include WhatsApp, Facebook stated that:
“Right now, we are focused on cross-app communications Messenger and Instagram. We are still determining how cross-app communications will work with WhatsApp. WhatsApp will continue to remain a separate, end-to-end encrypted app at this time.”
Therefore, this is a huge step, and still, Facebook is taking steps in the full integration plan.
However, the new integration will make some new functions, and also, Facebook is releasing some new features to roll out in the next step of the process.
There are some new Instagram/Messenger elements available which are:
Selfie Stickers – Facebook stated that these stickers are a special mix between selfies, Boomerang, and emojis, and give a new interesting way to react to conversations.
