The IRS plans to deliver automatic $1,400 payments to qualifying individuals throughout the U.S. who missed the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns. This initiative, announced in December 2024, aims to assist those who did not receive one or more Economic Impact Payments (stimulus checks).
Although the majority of taxpayers have already obtained their credits, those who have yet to submit their 2021 returns may still be eligible. Individuals who qualify must submit their filings by the April 15, 2025, deadline to redeem the credit. The IRS projects that these payments will amount to approximately $2.4 billion nationwide.
