Find Out If You Qualify for a ,400 Stimulus Check from the IRS – Here’s How!

According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), some Americans may still be eligible for a stimulus check.

A recent memo from the IRS indicates that some taxpayers who failed to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns have started receiving payments.

The IRS stated that “no action is needed for eligible taxpayers to receive these payments,” particularly for those who have yet to receive any funds.

The final date to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit, which can be worth up to $1,400, is April 15, 2025.

Eligible individuals need to submit their 2021 tax return before the deadline, as reported by Forbes on March 17.

IRS commissioner Danny Werfel remarked in December that “the IRS is dedicated to enhancing services and assisting taxpayers.”

He further noted, “These payments reflect our commitment to going the extra mile for taxpayers. Our internal data revealed that one million taxpayers overlooked this complex credit even though they qualified.”

“To reduce complications and ensure eligible taxpayers receive their payments efficiently, we are implementing automatic payments, allowing these individuals to avoid the lengthy process of filing an amended return.”

The Economic Impact Payments (EIP), commonly referred to as stimulus payments, were distributed during the COVID pandemic when many individuals faced job losses across the nation.

As before, payment amounts will vary based on individual circumstances, but the maximum amount available per person is $1,400. The IRS estimates the total amount of payments issued will be approximately $2.4 billion.

Individuals filing separately must have an adjusted gross income (AGI) of no more than $75,000 to qualify for the full $1,400, as reiterated by CNBC on March 18, referencing IRS guidelines.

However, the limit for the Recovery Rebate Credit is set at $80,000.

Couples filing jointly can receive $2,800 if their combined AGI in 2021 was $150,000 or less, but the credit phases out completely at an income of $160,000.

Additionally, dependents can also receive the full $1,400 regardless of their age from 2021.
