Fond du Lac Man Sentenced for Orchestrating Fatal Drug Deal

FOND DU LAC (WLUK) — A man from Fond du Lac has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for his involvement in orchestrating a drug deal that led to someone’s death.

The sentence imposed on Michael J. Kimmons, 48, consists of 8 years of initial confinement followed by 10 years of extended supervision.

Kimmons was found guilty of arranging a drug deal in January 2021 for the victim, who intended to use funds from a COVID stimulus check to buy drugs. In exchange for facilitating the deal, Kimmons received drugs from the victim.

At the time of the autopsy, the victim’s system showed 10 ng/mL of fentanyl, 67 ng/mL of cocaine, and 2,000 ng/mL of benzolecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.

“This is yet another tragic outcome of the opioid crisis and reflects the harm that fentanyl inflicts on our communities. We hope this sentence acts as a warning to those involved in drug trafficking within our community and encourages others to seek help,” stated Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric J. Toney.
