FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WBAY) – A man from Fond du Lac was sentenced to 8 years in prison on Friday following a drug overdose involving cocaine and fentanyl that occurred in 2021.
Michael Kimmons was found guilty of first-degree reckless homicide.
District Attorney Eric Toney stated that Kimmons arranged a drug transaction for the victim, who utilized their COVID stimulus check to purchase drugs. The victim passed away on January 5, 2021. Autopsy toxicology reports indicated that the victim had metabolized cocaine at levels up to twice the lethal dosage and three times the lethal level of fentanyl in their system.
Following his prison term, Kimmons will be subject to 10 years of extended supervision.
Toney expressed hope that the sentence would deter others from engaging in drug dealing and inspire individuals battling substance abuse to seek help.
