Ford enthusiasts have reason to celebrate: we can now integrate widgets for our vehicles into the Control Center. Ford is introducing a new update for the FordPass app that includes Control Center toggles along with a brand-new Home Screen widget.
The FordPass app was showcased by Apple as a demonstration during the iOS 18 announcement at WWDC in June and later at the iPhone 16 event in September.
Sadly, the “Climate” widget for Control Center displayed during WWDC is not part of this update. Instead, the FordPass app has introduced two Control Center widgets for “Lock” and “Unlock.”
The updated Home Screen widget provides information about your current range estimate and charging percentage. It even features a green background when your vehicle is charging.
I’m eager to see Ford enhance these functionalities by adding Control Center widgets for features like climate, frunk, and trunk access. Let’s hope these additions are on the way in a future update. Following WWDC in June, Ford CEO Jim Farley indicated that climate controls would be part of the upcoming widgets for Control Center.
Other automakers, such as Rivian and Tesla, have also introduced support for iOS 18 Control Center toggles, providing options for climate settings, window controls, hood, frunk, and more.
The latest version of the FordPass app is now available on the App Store.
Thanks to my friend Jace for pointing out this update!
