The Iowa State women’s basketball team won a recruitment battle only hours before they faced Stanford in the NCAA Tournament’s second round.
Danish guard Freya Jensen, who is five feet eleven inches tall, revealed on social media on Sunday that she will be joining the Cyclones. Jensen belongs to the 2025 class. In February, she paid Iowa Women’s State an official visit. Just to get to Ames for her visit, she had to take five flights. She was raving about the Iowa Women’s State fan base she had heard so much about on the trip. Now Jensen gets to participate in it. She’ll provide the Cyclones with a potent shooter, particularly when aiming past the arc.
Iowa Women’s Basketball Team All Set To Begin With Jensen
Jensen averaged 16.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while competing in the 2023 FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship.
In Iowa women’s State’s second-round battle with Duke, the No. 2-seeded Buckeyes led by 16 points at one time. It would not be sufficient to prevent an upset that would terminate the season at Value City Arena on Sunday. With a career-high 28 points and seven rebounds from Reigan Richardson, No. 7 seed Duke pulled off an upset victory 75-63 to go to the Sweet 16.
In its hour of need, Ohio State was also harmed by foul play. The co-Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Celeste Taylor, fouled out with more than six minutes remaining in the game, leaving the Buckeyes to play much of the fourth quarter without her. Already, they were having trouble coming up with a response for Richardson.
