Gab is a social media network very popular among some of the extremists, the alt-right, and the people belonging to the political institution of the conservatives. The main reason for the rise of this social media network is directly connected to the downfall of another similar network, Parler.
Gab And Its Journey
Parler was rising in popularity among the conservatives. However, it got taken down from the internet itself. The reason for this is because of the violent riot that broke out in the US Capitol that led to the death of five people. The incident took place on the 6th of January, on the day the 2020 presidential election win of Joe Biden was to be affirmed by the US Congress.
Gab took the social media platform Twitter to make the announcement of the surge in its users. The tweet said that in the past week, over 2.3 million new users joined the social media platform. This came out on Thursday. During the week, the people made their visit to the app over a million times. They also viewed the pages of a total number of 100 million, on the platform itself.
There have been criticisms pointed towards Gab like that of Parler. They are told to be a host of speeches that are full of hate and violence. They are mostly done by the tech giants that pose as the front doors to the world of the internet. This is the main reason why Gab is facing difficulty in its running. In the recent traffic influx of the social media platform, Gab has had a rough running with regard to its working.
