Recently, Apple unveiled Genmoji as part of the iOS 18.2 update, allowing iPhone and iPad users to create custom emojis using Apple Intelligence. While this feature was absent in the macOS 15.2 update, Genmoji is now accessible on the Mac through the first beta of macOS Sequoia 15.3.
macOS 15.3 beta 1 introduces Genmoji for Mac
According to DMN, the release of macOS 15.3 beta 1 for developers on Monday finally brings Genmoji to Mac users. The option to create a new Genmoji is available in the macOS emoji picker. Users can describe the emoji they envision, and Apple Intelligence will transform those words into a Genmoji, offering great creative freedom.
Genmojis are created directly on the device, meaning they function exclusively on compatible iPhones, iPads, and now Macs equipped with Apple Intelligence. This includes iPhone 15 Pro or later models, as well as iPads and Macs featuring the M1 chip or newer (also compatible with iPad mini 7).
Besides this, the latest beta updates do not appear to introduce other major features. Apple has additional Apple Intelligence enhancements planned, including Priority Notifications and contextual Siri, anticipated to be launched in April next year alongside iOS 18.4 and macOS 15.4.
Currently, both iOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 are available as beta versions for developers. Public release is expected to take place sometime between January and February 2025.
