A survey of U.S. investors has found that Millennials and GenZ are keen on cryptocurrencies as a retirement investment option.

According to the survey, 49% of Gen Z respondents and 44% of Millennials would like to see crypto assets in their retirement accounts by 2023. The findings come from investment data provider Fidelity Investments and Facebook-owned messaging app Telegram, which partnered with pollster Ipsos to conduct the study among 10,000 U.S.-based investors over age 18.

According to a survey of U.S. investors, Millennials and Gen Z are keen on cryptocurrencies as a retirement investment option.

The report was compiled by LendEDU in partnership with OnChainFX, which is a digital asset data provider that provides real-time market data to institutional and retail investors. In the study, 1,000 Americans were asked which asset they would include in their retirement portfolios if they could choose from any asset class available today.

GenZ Excited About Crypto

15% chose Bitcoin among other cryptocurrencies while stocks (including gold) took second place at 15%. The third most popular choice was a real estate at 13%, followed by bonds at 10%.

The results show that more than half of all American investors interviewed (51%) believe that crypto will be part of their retirement portfolio in 20 years time or sooner. It’s important to note that Millennials and GenZ are the main drivers behind this new trend: 54% of them want crypto in retirement funds compared with only 46% from Generation X (those born between 1965 and 1980) and 45% from Baby Boomers (those born between 1946-1964).

The cryptocurrency market is still at an early stage and will require a lot of time to mature. The survey shows that crypto assets are on the rise amongst Millennials and GenZ, with the former being more confident about the future of this asset class. However, there is still a lot of room for improvement as these groups have different preferences in terms of investment strategies and risk tolerance levels.
