Gurman: Apple Considering the Possibility of Releasing a TV Set Once More

This weekend’s Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman indicates that Apple is once again considering the possibility of launching their own branded television set.

According to Gurman, any potential release would follow the introduction of their new smart display offerings, suggesting that it may be a few years away. Apple is expected to launch a more affordable smart display, often referred to as “HomePad,” early next year.

Following that, there are expectations for a more advanced product featuring a larger display and a robotic arm.

However, Gurman cautions that if the initial device underperforms, specifically the smart displays, Apple may have to reassess its smart home strategy – implying that the speculation around an Apple-branded television might never materialize.

Personally, I find it hard to envision this coming to fruition. Apple’s TV boxes already make a significant market impact, yet it’s possible that Apple could enter the high-end television sector, albeit a rather niche market.

Conversely, Apple likely aims to promote the Apple Vision Pro as the home theater solution, which could contradict the introduction of a TV set.

Time will tell.
