Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter reveals that Apple plans to launch iOS 18.2 slightly ahead of schedule, targeting the week of December 2nd. He also provides insights into the timeline for upcoming features related to Apple Intelligence.
In a recent newsletter, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg shared noteworthy information regarding the launch of iOS 18.2:
I’ve been informed that the iOS 18.2 system update, featuring significant enhancements to Apple Intelligence […] is expected to be released earlier in December. How early? The week of Dec. 2, unless there are unforeseen delays.
This timing is somewhat earlier than traditionally seen, yet it’s not entirely unexpected. Apple is likely eager to deliver its forthcoming AI features, such as Genmoji and ChatGPT integration, to users as swiftly as possible.
Historically, iOS x.2 updates have typically been rolled out in the second week of December, with iOS 17.2 debuting on December 11th and iOS 16.2 on December 13th.
Consequently, users will experience Apple’s second installment of Apple Intelligence approximately a week earlier than usual.
Furthermore, Gurman mentions that iOS 18.4, which will bring the “next major update to Apple Intelligence”, is anticipated to debut in April. Typically, iOS x.4 updates are released in March, making this schedule somewhat later than expected. We hope the update will be well worth the wait.
iOS 18.4 is projected to offer major enhancements to Siri, including the introduction of personal context support.
