Halle Bailey is very aware of the resemblance between her name and Halle Berry’s. Bailey was asked by cohosts Kelly and her husband Mark about the similarity between her and the Catwoman star during the star from Little Mermaid’s appearance on Kelly Ripa’s show on Thursday.
There she stated that her parents had ultimately chosen to name her Halle (Bailey) since it sounded like Halle Berry, their favorite artist. However, she is the only person Halle Bailey would choose to have a name similar to since she was so cool.
Halle Bailey Would Not Prefer Sharing Names With Anyone But Halle Berry
At the Academy Awards event in March, where both actresses made appearances at multiple moments in the telecast, Halle Bailey noted that she finally met Berry, 56.
She said that Halle Berry has been a favorite in her family and when she was questioned by Ripa about her almost ‘namesake’ and on whether it was a ‘planned’ coincidence that they named her Halle, she responded that they had always wanted to name her Halle. Further adding that Halle Berry was the only person she would choose to have similar names with.
Upon discussing their first meeting, Halle Bailey recounts that it was amazing since Halle Berry treated her very nicely. They had previously interacted via social media but it was the first time the two had met where both have been quite supportive of each other’s work. Bailey further said that Halle Berry was an angel.
Halle Bailey’s appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark Thursday wasn’t the 1st time either actress had thought about how Berry and her name are similar. A fan on Twitter accidentally replied to the Oscar winner’s post in 2021 saying that she could not wait to watch the star under the sea, ending with a few mermaid emojis.
