Here’s the sole security update included in iOS 18.3.2 and additional enhancements.

Today, Apple rolled out a series of bug fixes and security updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other devices. While the exact bugs addressed by these updates remain unclear, Apple has confirmed that a key security fix has been introduced in iOS 18.3.2, macOS 15.3.2, and visionOS 2.3.2.

iOS 18.3.2 Security Fix Addresses WebKit Vulnerability

According to an update on its security release support page, Apple has specified the particular fixes included in its latest software updates.

In terms of security vulnerabilities, it turns out that there is only one issue impacting several of Apple’s major platforms.

This pertains to a security concern with WebKit, affecting iOS and iPadOS 18.3.2, as well as macOS 15.3.2, and visionOS 2.3.2.

Here are the details from Apple:

Impact: Maliciously crafted web content might exploit the Web Content sandbox. This update serves as a supplementary fix for an attack that was mitigated in iOS 17.2. (Apple is aware of a report indicating that this issue could have been exploited in a highly sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on iOS versions prior to iOS 17.2.)

Description: An out-of-bounds write issue was resolved with enhanced checks to prevent unauthorized operations.

The WebKit vulnerability highlighted by Apple has been present for some time, initially addressed over a year ago in iOS 17.2.

However, Apple identified the need for an additional fix.

While the notes suggest that the issue may have been exploited for certain individuals, Apple is explicit that no such breaches occurred after the deployment of iOS 17.2. This implies that they are not aware of any exploits following their initial fix in 2023.
