Here’s What to Expect from the Slim Design of the iPhone 17 Air, Featuring the Camera Bar

The highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air is set to focus on being ultra-slim, potentially becoming the thinnest iPhone to date, albeit with lower specifications.

Earlier this year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo caught everyone off guard by claiming that the new device may be even thinner than originally thought, a sentiment that has since been supported by another leaker.

5.5mm without the camera bar

Kuo mentioned back in January that the phone would measure roughly 5.5mm at its “slimmest point.”

The 2H25 ultra-thin iPhone (with its thinnest section at around 5.5mm) and the foldable iPhone […] might see higher production volumes than the iPhone Plus, although this won’t drastically increase overall iPhone sales, partly due to lower-grade components combined with a higher price and a user experience similar to existing models.

This context relates to the camera bump—or more accurately, what is predicted to be a camera bar, which will span nearly the entire width of the phone while featuring just a single camera.

This new design is considerably slimmer than the estimated 6.25mm figures that had been circulating earlier.

9.5mm with it

The camera bulge of the iPhone 17 Air measures 4.0mm, making the total body thickness 9.5mm.

In imperial measurements, this equates to approximately 0.22 inches for the body and 0.37 inches at the top.
