Co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie said on Wednesday that the co-anchor had been absent from the Today program for more than a week due to a “family health emergency.” Viewers had expressed worry over the co-protracted anchor’s absence. Hoda Kotb, a coworker on “Today,” has reassured viewers that she is “Fine” despite growing anxiety over her extended absence from the morning show. Craig Melvin made the statement.
Wednesday morning, Melvin said on air that Kotb had been away attending to “a family health problem.” Since February 17, the acclaimed “Today” co-anchor has not made a live appearance.
Hoda Kotb Is Doing Fine
When he co-hosted “Today” with Sheinelle Jones and Al Roker, Melvin stated, “We know a lot of you have been asking how she is doing. The adored “Today” host, mother, and breast cancer survivor vanished mysteriously before Wednesday’s broadcast, leaving worried viewers to wonder about her safety. During Kotb’s absence, “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie and “Today With Hoda & Jenna” co-host Jenna Bush Hager have been filling in for Kotb alongside Melvin, Jones, Tom Llamas, Willie Geist, and other NBC News reporters.
Guthrie, who unexpectedly left the program and tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, was also absent from the broadcast on Wednesday. The seasoned broadcaster has previously contracted the respiratory ailment twice despite being immunized and supplemented. We are hoping for a quick recovery for our friend,” Melvin remarked on Wednesday. “Hoda and Savannah will be back here at the counter very, very soon,” said the staff.
Roker continued, “You two are loved. Despite being absent, Kotb has been active on social media, posting words of encouragement and support.
