This year, Apple is set to unveil three new Home products as part of its revitalized approach to smart home technology. Here’s what we know about the anticipated launch of the HomePod mini 2.
HomePod mini 2 expected in late 2025, according to reports
The original HomePod mini made its debut in late 2020, marking its presence in the smart speaker market over four years ago. It offered many of the capabilities of the larger HomePod in a compact, budget-friendly package priced at $99.
Since its introduction, the HomePod mini has primarily received software updates, with minimal additional features apart from new color variants.
However, industry insider Mark Gurman reports that the HomePod mini 2 is finally on the horizon for this year.
In his extensive rundown of Apple’s product launch schedule for 2025, Gurman mentioned that the HomePod mini 2 is “scheduled for release towards the year’s end.”
This timeframe coincides with the anticipated launch of the new Apple TV 4K.
Thus, it appears we might see a spring unveiling of a new ‘HomePad’ product, followed by the HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K later in the year.
It’s likely that these devices could debut in October or November.
Given that September is typically a busy month—especially this year with the launches of the iPhone 17 Air and Pro, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Series 11, and AirPods Pro 3—there will be little room for additional announcements.
Once those major products are revealed, Apple’s schedule should clear somewhat, leaving space for the M5 MacBook Pro and potentially the M5 iPad Pro to make appearances.
With the addition of a few upgraded Home products, an exciting hypothetical October event seems likely.
