Indie App Spotlight: ‘Sofa’ Helps You Stay Organized in Your Leisure Time

Welcome to the Indie App Spotlight. This weekly series by DMN highlights up-and-coming apps in the indie scene. If you’re a developer interested in featuring your app, please reach out to us.

Sofa is a user-friendly application designed to help you stay organized during your downtime. While everyone experiences moments of idleness, planning productive activities can often be overlooked. Although social media scrolling is tempting, Sofa provides a better alternative for organizing leisure pursuits. Its latest update has introduced an integrated podcast player, enhancing the overall experience.

Key Features

Sofa allows you to organize a variety of content, including apps, books, audiobooks, movies, TV shows, podcasts, music albums, video games, and more – all in one place. The app boasts an extensive catalog, making it likely that your desired item is available for search. Once you locate it, you can either add it to “the pile,” a general collection for future exploration, or to a curated list tailored to your preferences.

You can create custom categories for items that fall outside the predefined options. For instance, if you wish to maintain a list of articles, you have the flexibility to do so.

The app features a logbook that tracks every game, podcast, or show you’ve engaged with, acting as an effective activity tracker.

As mentioned previously, the new Sofa 4.2 update comes with a built-in podcast player, allowing podcast enthusiasts to listen without leaving the app. The podcast player includes show notes and supports CarPlay functionality.

Get Sofa

Sofa is available to download for free from the App Store, featuring all of the capabilities outlined above. It requires an iPhone or iPad with iOS 17.6 or later, a Mac with macOS 14.6 Sonoma or higher, or an Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 2.4 or later.

For additional features, consider Super Sofa, their premium subscription service that introduces smart lists, advanced customization, enhanced podcast controls, pinned lists, sticky notes, and more, available for $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year. Smart lists automatically generate based on criteria you set when creating a list.

Even without a subscription, Sofa is fully functional, offering unlimited groups/lists, the ability to include nearly anything in the app, iCloud syncing, custom categories, and the newly added podcast player – all available on the free version.
