Enter Univershuffle, a new app designed for music discovery that randomly shuffles through all the songs available on Apple Music—without the influence of AI or algorithms. It’s an ideal tool for those eager to explore new tunes, provided you’re ready to sift through numerous tracks.
This app is free to use within certain limitations, and to enjoy full-length tracks, you must connect an Apple Music account. Univershuffle made its debut on the App Store this week.
Key Features
Once you connect your Apple Music account, you can shuffle through songs freely. You have the option to filter out specific genres, tailoring your listening experience to your preferences. If a song catches your fancy, quick buttons are available to add it to a playlist or save it to your Apple Music library.
Should you encounter a song with a title in a different language, the app includes a translation feature powered by Apple’s Translate API—simply tap the title to see the translated version. There’s also a customizable button that lets you quickly access your go-to actions in the app, whether that’s adding a song to your playlist or saving the entire album.
Additionally, the app integrates with Apple Shortcuts and Siri and features iCloud Sync, ensuring seamless use across devices. It also provides interactive widgets for your home screen.
Pricing Structure
Univershuffle offers substantial free functionality, assuming you’ve linked your Apple Music account. Without it, you’ll only be able to listen to 30-second snippets of songs. Connected users can enjoy an ad-free experience for their first 10 songs, after which ads will be displayed.
If you prefer an uninterrupted experience, you can purchase Univershuffle Premium, which employs a “tip jar” style payment system. You can unlock premium features for as little as $5 one time, but there are also higher tiers available for $10, $25, or $50 if you wish to provide additional support to the developer.
There are subscription options for ongoing support as well, starting at $1.49 per month. You’ll retain access to premium features even after canceling, provided you’ve spent over $5 in total.
