Today, Apple issued the third beta of iOS 18.2 for developers. While not as significant as the initial two beta releases, there are a few noteworthy updates to highlight.
This version, labeled iOS 18.2 beta 3, is available for developers, marked with build number 22C5131e. A new public beta version is expected to be released later this week.
iOS 18.2 beta 3 can be accessed by all iPhones capable of supporting iOS 18. It’s essential to note that certain Apple Intelligence features remain exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all models of the iPhone 16.
What’s New in iOS 18.2 beta 3?
Camera Control
A new feature in the Settings app allows users to disable the “Require Screen On” setting for Camera Control. This enables the Camera app to open with a single tap, irrespective of whether the iPhone 16’s display is active.
CarPlay Icons
Noted by Aaron Perris, Apple is refining icons for the next-gen CarPlay platform. Though not yet available in any vehicle, the latest iOS 18.2 beta 3 has updated the “Media” and “Climate” application icons in anticipation of the upgraded CarPlay experience this year.
Changes in the Photos App
A minor yet noteworthy update has been made to the Photos app. In iOS 18.2 beta 3, when tapping on a video, the interface remains unchanged without zooming in or out, allowing both the video scrubber and the gallery view to remain visible over the playback.

TV App Customization for iPad
In the latest iPadOS 18.2 beta 3, the TV app’s navigation bar has been enhanced with customization options. Users can now add various sidebar elements to the tab bar, such as channels, apps, library sections, and sports categories.

- Resolved: The Play Sound and Precision Finding features for AirTags, AirPods, and third-party Find My-compatible accessories may not have functioned correctly.
- The AirPlay icon within the share sheet has received a subtle redesign.
