iOS 18 introduces numerous new functionalities for the iPhone, with additional enhancements expected in upcoming updates like iOS 18.2. Besides Genmoji, Image Playgrounds, and a refreshed Mail app, Apple is also developing a feature that will inform users of the time needed to charge their iPhone.
Upcoming iOS Feature to Indicate Time Left for Charging iPhone
This new feature is currently disabled but was uncovered by DMN within the iOS 18.2 beta 2 code released on Monday for developers.
A new framework named “BatteryIntelligence” is being implemented to estimate the required time to recharge the device, likely based on the energy input. Users may opt to receive notifications indicating how long it will take to reach an 80% charge, for instance.
While this feature has been identified in the recent beta code, it remains in an inactive and unfinished state, indicating that Apple is still refining it. There’s a possibility it will appear in future beta releases of iOS 18.2 or subsequent software updates. It’s interesting to note that macOS already includes a similar feature for MacBooks within its Battery menu.
With the release of iOS 18, Apple has introduced various battery health-related features. Users can now set a limit on the maximum charge of their iPhone to 80%, 85%, 90%, or 95% to help preserve battery longevity over time. The system also informs when the iPhone is being charged with a slower charger.
