Surprisingly, we’re merely five months away from the unveiling of iOS 19. Leading up to that launch, speculation has started to emerge regarding various iOS 19 features, compatible devices, and more.
Is your iPhone compatible with iOS 19?
Each year, one of the crucial inquiries is which iPhone models will be eligible for the latest iOS update. Fortunately, there’s positive news for iPhone users in 2025. Trusted sources like iPhoneSoft indicate that all devices compatible with iOS 18 will also support the upcoming iOS 19.
The following devices are set to receive iOS 19 this year:
- iPhone XR
- iPhone XS and XS Max
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 and 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13 and 13 mini
- iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 14 and 14 Plus
- iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
- iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16 and 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2nd gen)
- iPhone SE (3rd gen)
It’s important to note that not all features in iOS 19 will be accessible on every iPhone model. Certain intensive features, such as Apple Intelligence, will be restricted to the latest iPhones.
Features of iOS 19
LLM Siri
As reported by Bloomberg, a significant new feature in iOS 19 will be an enhanced version of Siri powered by advanced large language models (LLMs).
This new Siri will “interact more like a human” and perform comparably to platforms like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. It will also integrate with the existing App Intents system in iOS for “accurate control of third-party applications,” according to Bloomberg.
Currently, iOS 18 has ChatGPT integration within Siri and Apple Intelligence. However, with iOS 19, Apple aims to streamline this functionality internally and highlight the privacy advantages of its platform over OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
It’s worth noting that while Apple is set to introduce this new LLM Siri alongside iOS 19, the actual deployment won’t occur until 2026 through a later update like iOS 19.4.
Delays
As we near the iOS 19 announcement in June, Apple is still finalizing the rollout of features initially slated for iOS 18 last year. Some of the most impressive capabilities relating to Apple Intelligence introduced for iOS 18 are still in development and are not expected until iOS 18.4 in March.
According to Bloomberg, the ongoing work on iOS 18 has resulted in a “larger-than-usual number of features scheduled for iOS 19” being pushed to spring 2026. This has happened because Apple engineers are still engaged in iOS 18 tasks when they would typically have transitioned to the next OS.
This may mean that iOS 19 could lack several important features at its launch in September, with these features being gradually added in updates such as iOS 19.1, iOS 19.2, iOS 19.3, and iOS 19.4.
