In recent days, we’ve encountered numerous new renders showcasing the forthcoming iPhone 17 series. A standout characteristic among them is an innovative ‘camera bar’ design. However, it appears one model will not feature this new aesthetic.
Standard iPhone 17 likely to maintain current camera design
Earlier today, we posted a video by Jon Prosser that provided an insightful glimpse into what to expect from Apple’s sleek iPhone 17 Air variant.
Additionally, a noteworthy point from Prosser regarding the base model iPhone 17 caught our attention.
In a post on X, he states:
Though I didn’t mention this in the video, I want to include: the standard iPhone 17 retains the look of the base iPhone 16. Take this information as you will..
Speculation has suggested that all iPhone 17 variants will experience some level of design refresh, yet it seems that the base iPhone 17 will forgo one of the most significant aesthetic changes: the new camera bar.
Aside from the iPhone 17 Air, other renderings reveal a similar ‘bar’ design being adopted for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models as well. This aligns with reports from sources like The Information in the past, which described the design as having a “larger rectangular camera bump.”
Major camera differences are anticipated between the 17 Air and 17 Pro models. Specifically, the Air will feature a single rear camera, while the Pro models will boast three. Despite these disparities, Apple seems set on incorporating a similar camera bar aesthetic across the board.
This ultimately indicates that three out of the four iPhone 17 models will showcase the new ‘bar’ design instead of the traditional ‘bump’ design for their camera modules.
In contrast, according to Prosser, the base iPhone 17 will retain the conventional camera design seen on the current iPhone 16 model.
