Jada Pinkett Smith has spoken out about the authorities arresting a suspect connected to Tupac Shakur’s 1996 murder. The 52-year-old said that she hoped for “closure” regarding Shakur’s death. Smith was a close friend of Tupac Shakur for quite a number of years. On September 29th, Smith shared her thoughts via a post in her story on Instagram after the arrest news was circulated.

In her post, Jada Pinkett Smith wrote that she hoped everyone could finally receive a few answers and find some closure. She finished by saying “R.I.P. Pac”, and added the emoji of a dove. On September 29th, ABC News and Associated Press reported that one Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He is suspected to be connected to Shakur’s murder. The rapper had been killed after being shot on September 13th, 1996.

The case has been cold since the murder took place. As such, this arrest comes as the first big development in 27 years. As per the report by AP, authorities placed Davis in custody early in the morning on September 29th. The suspect faces a charge of one count of murder involving enhancement by a gang. LV Metro PD’s press conference described him as the commander on-site and on-ground who ordered Shakur’s death.

On September 7th, 1996, Tupac Shakur received four bullets while sitting inside his car en route to a Las Vegas nightclub. The rapper was at his most famous at the time. He was 25 years old. He passed away due to the injuries on September 13th. Jada Pinkett Smith has made multiple public statements about how close she was to the artist. She has said Shakur was her best friend.
